I think yes, managing presence is a facet of digital capabilities. As well as being about managing visible availability, it’s something to do with being polysynchronous (a phrase I saw in NMC HE 2016 report): managing synchronous, asynchronous and what I call near-synchronous (like WhatsApp voice msgs). It’s an area full of friction and mismatched expectations therefore it would be useful to have ways of describing the dimensions of presence.
